The ancient city of Aphrodisias, located within the borders of Geyre District of Aydın province, Karacasu district, is located on a plateau at an altitude of 600 metere from the sea, in the fertile valley formed by the Dandalaz (Morsynus) Stream, a branch of the Menderes (Meander) River. Throughout history, the city, which was fed by the natural features of the river basin in which it was located, provided the greatest source of wealth in the Ancient Period, and the marble quarries located on the skirts of Babadağ in the north of the city. While Aphrodisias, whose settlement date dates back to the middle of the 5th millennium BC,was a small village in the 6th century BC, it gained the status of a city-state (polis) in the 2nd century BC during the intense urbanization period in the Menderes Valley.Aphrodisias who had close relations with Rome in the 1st century BC,was”I chose this city for myself from all of Asia “by Octavian, who would later take the title of Augustus as the Roman Senate and started to develop rapidly after privileges such as tax exemption and autonpmy were granted by the Roman Senate in 39BC. The archaeological significance of Aphrodisias, AD 1.-5. it has trained sculptors who have gained great fame in the whole Mediterrannean world between the centuris, and whose works bear their signatures all over the Empire, especially in Rome. the rare proximity of marble sculpture. Thanks to this this feature, it  became one of the cities in the Asian Province of the Roman Empire that enabled the marble art and architecture of the period to be researched and understood in all aspects. it is knownvthat the sanctuary of Aphrodite, whice gave the its nameand played an important role in the development of the urben identity, and the original cult of Aphrodite in the city also culturally affeceteda large area in the Mediterram Basin.

Restoration works of the Aspendos Antique Theatre, located within the bordres of Serik district of Antalya, were carried out in line with the survey, restoration, restitution, static andelectrical project appropriate to complete the missing stones of the cavea steps of the Aspendos Theatre. İn this direction, samples suitable for these saples were collected. Afterwards, the orginal stone and the sampledsampleswere sent to the laboratory  for analysis. İn line with the laboratory results and the on-site examination of the Antalya Cultural Heritage Preservation Board, it was determined that the missing stoneswere replaced by the closest stones to the orginal stoneswith their pressure strenght , mass water absorption, densityetc. it has beem decided to use limestone in ‘Korkuteli Beige color with homogeneous strucyure. in linewith this decision, the completion applications of the missing step stones werecarried out under thr Surveying and Monuments. in addition, the original stones of the said theatre are about 2000 years old and have been worn and grayed by enviromental factors (rain, wind, etc). Over time, the color and texture deformation of the srpne has penetrated into the stone. The color of the stones used in the restoration will change over time with the effect of climate and natural conditions, forming a patina and taking the color of the original srone material. İn this respect, all onsite applications have been completed in accordance with the restoration projetc and the decisions of the Antalya Cultural Heritagr Preserve Regional Board.

Cumalıkızık, which is one of the regions where the Ottomans firts settled in Bursa, carries the Ottoman period housing texture to the present day with a total of 270 houses, 180 of which are still in use and some of them are protected andrestored.

İn the Ihlamurcu locality, on the skirts of Uludağ. southeast of Cumalıkızık settlement, the remains of a Byantine chruch were discovered in 1969. Some archiyectural fregments  of the church remains found on the surface are kept in the Bursa Archelogy Museum. The Ottoman Principality, which was established near Bursa, succeeded to dominate the region shortly after its establishment, and by conquerding Bursa in 1326 and İznik in 1331, it made its presenceknown in the region. Thus, it was ensured that the Ottoman people settledin these lands and formed cities and villages. Cumalıkızık was established as a foudation village and reflected this feature of its settlement texture to its residential architrcture and lifestyle.
