This is a story about a girl named Ruth.
Ruth lived in the land of Moab where her inhabitants worked foreign labor.
At that time a man named Elimelech lived in Bethlehem, he had a wife named Naomi and two children named Mahlon and Kalion.

Those years were years of famine in Israel, so Elimelech left Bethlehem and took his family to Moab. Elimelech planned to return to Bethlehem soon but he died while he was there.

His two sons married two Moabite women one named Orpah and the other Ruth, the two sons also died and so Naomi and her two daughters-in-law were left alone, widows

Ten years later Naomi heard that God had sent a great harvest to Israel and she was preparing to set out on the long journey back to Bethlehem, Orpah kissed her peacefully and returned to her people, but Ruth refused to leave despite all Naomi’s attempts at persuasion. The two women continued together on the way to Bethlehem.

The period was the harvest of the barley. Ruth wanted to go out into the fields to collect the wheat that the reapers had left behind, she and Naomi needed these wheat to make food because they were very poor.
Ruth came to the field of Boaz, a relative of Naomi. Boaz was a rich and well-known man and admired Ruth for her loyalty to Naomi. So he offered plenty of food and hay to her and Naomi.

Finally Boaz married Ruth and they had a child named Oved, he had a son named Yishai and Yishai’s son was King David

I admire the character Ruth for her courage to leave her people for Naomi and the Torah and the Mitzvos. I really appreciate her loyalty to Naomi and even though Orpah who was like her best friend left, she stayed and did not leave Naomi and trust God.Ruth stayed with Naomi even in the most difficult moments when they had nothing to eat or where to sleep and for that I admire Ruth even more.
Receiving the Torah tells me many things about our people but what it tells me the most is how we are here thanks to our ancestors who received the Torah and thanks to them we believe.
