Yesterday when I was standing in line to get out my money, the worse thing happened. A man came out yelling that they were out of money. There were only two more people ahead of me. It felt like my world came tumbling down. I knew that if we didn’t have money, we couldn’t keep on with our lives.
While I was walking home, all I could think about was how to tell my wife the news.

I had been working at the textile factory for almost two years. I got 40 hours a week with decent pay. I just knew that I would have this job forever. Then, my whole life changed. The factory started laying people off. They were doing it by how long you had been employed there.
First, they started with the people who had been hired in the past year. There were so many people that had been hired lately that I knew that I was safe. Then I was called in to the boss’ room.

Today was the first morning in four years I’ve woke up without my wife. I feel lost and alone. I’ve seen other men like me out here, but I don’t know if they are good people. I never wanted to admit to ever being scared, but today I am.
My wife kicked me out yesterday. After I lost my job, I became bitter. I was unhappy and always drinking. She told me to leave, I begged her to give me one more chance but she wouldn’t.

As President I knew I had to do something. I couldn’t bear to see my people like this. I felt like I was failing them. I thought long and hard, until I came up with a plan.
The New Deal would help all Americans. It would fix our issues. I just knew it would change us, I knew it would bring us back to the once great nation.
