Living during the great depression is very hard especially when you and your family don’t have anything. So as time goes by everything is going okay. So one day I decide to go down to the bank to get my last 500 dollars out and when I asked the lady at the desk could I get it and she said there is money left in the bank. When she told me this I became very furious because that was my last bit of money now I have nothing left . So now I cant support my family and their needs. I cant buy any food , I cant get a job I cant get anything what a disaster so now im just like  what am im  going to do. this is affecting me financially this could’ve been avoided by not loaning out to any and everybosdy and they should’ve be a limit on how much money could’ve been loaned out .

welcome to the place I know as home…HOOVERVILLES. I cant believe im even in this predictment right now I went from having a good life without any problems to living in this old shanty town. In this town me, my family , and many other homeless people lived here suffering everyday uggh what a disaster. hoovervilles were located all over the nation in many other cities and where often times built near factories that way my dad and others wouldn’t have a long way to go to as far as work went. hoovervilles where mailnly build with any kind of scarps that could be found such as wood, stone , and mainly cardboard or anything else that was available and reliable enough to build with. But having a home build out of cardboard was ah orrible decision necause if It was to rain the rain wouth cause the cardboard to become soft and I hated when this would happen. Another thing was by us living in a big but cluster palce disease spread quickly and every week I would hate to see families carrying out their loved ones to be buried I felt so bad for them uggh the life of living in a hooverville.

When I was 11 years old my dad and I decided to moved out to the western region also known as the great plains, with the thought of us having a better chance at life. my dad finally saved up enough money to get us own own house. so as time is going past life on the western plains are going pretty good. So after a couple months living on the great plains things seems to go downhill and what I mean is that the fertile soil that we used to have is now this barren soil and with that being said that means no crops and no food for us also the cattle that we have left is surely but slowly dieing fast too… so then comes the dust storms dust storms where caused by droughts, overgrazing, and high winds and boy  I hated when we had dust storms cause for one everytime I cleaned up the house I would have to clean it right up again , and another thing was because dust would be everywhere and caused a lot of people  mainly kids to get dust pneumonia which was a infection of the lungs where the dust would get in your lungs and make it hard for you to breath . On april 14 also known as black sunday 20 of the worst dust storms hit the region. Due to this storms we moved. thank god

Franklin Roosevelt should be one of the most respected man on earth when its comes to the history of America. the reason I say this is because after he won the election in 1932 against Herbert hoover.  Roosevelt started off right on hand by promising the people a new deal. he felt as if the government should step in to help the American people with whatever they may be going through. Roosevelt won one the first lopsided victories in the u.s history, with the help of his fellow American citizens he was able to come up with 6 different new deal programs rto help them get through their everyday life. the first deal he came up with was the  civilian conservation corps which as a program that created over 3 million jobs for men aged 18-25, next he came up with the agricultural adjustment adminstaration which was a program that paid farmers to plant less, the national industrial recovery act program that helped all the the declining prices be brought back up., the federal deposit insurance corp insured bank deposits up to $2,500, and last was the work progress administration which created 8.5 million jobs , and last the social security act which provided financial help for the elderly and disabled.
