During the Great Depression, Bank failures led a huge part. Around the 1930’s Loaning money helped people out a lot, however people didn’t always pay the money back to the bank. Therefore sooner or later the bank soon ran out of money so when other people needed their money that they stored in the bank it weren’t there. Without money men couldn’t help their family and had to work harder to provide. As i walked to the bank to pick up my life savings because we were struggling with working and paying bills, however when i arrived the bank teller stated that they didn’t have it. So many thoughts came to my head, what will i do now? , whats going to happen with my family?. Couple months later after no bills being payed cause of lack of money we lost our house, its my time to go look for a better job and travel. My only prayer is to make sure my family is okay.

Due to lack of crop rotation and planting wheat every year led to the dust bowl. The dust killed our livestock and now my daughter is getting very sick with pneumonia. im tired of walking around with face masks on, however health means more than looks to me which i continue to tell my children. Ive always been okay and good with cleaning but as time go by the dust is getting worst. i have swept ten times already today and thats less than I have been for a while lately. Oh, it’s not just sweeping the dust gets in the counters, on the kitchen table, and even where my kids lap their head at night. it’s beginning to be too much.I have children to take care of however i dont think i can do this any longer im fed up and i have held my anger in too long.

Gathered around the kitchen table every Sunday evening waiting on the Fireside Chats to come on the radio, watching the children excited to hear President Roosevelt voice. I must admit when my husband and I were down and soon to give up on everything, the slightest encouragement given by him really helped us out and reminded us that everything happens for a reason we just got to all get through this. He informed us every step of the way with what all is happening and this gave us little hope. Our President have given some of the best speeches ive ever heard by any man, i just pray every thing turns out how he say it will.

We have no jobs and the goverment will not do anything for us, lost everything and even my house. about a year ago a group of people who are in the same situation as me decided to build places to rest our heads. Since this is all because of President Hoover we named it Hooverville, it’s pretty much just Shanty Towns. It was made with any scap of metal we found, cardboard boxes, and box wood. We worked hard to create this place, although it may not be much but it is somewhere the homeless people and myself can rest.
