Military Coffee in the USA

In the United States, coffee has long been a source of comfort for soldiers and has served as small salvation during wars. Hidden Kitchens examines three wars – Vietnam, Afghanistan, and the Civil War – through the lens of coffee. So what do you get when you order military coffee? The article will provide some background on coffee and will also discuss how Veterans-owned coffee companies make it for troops. In addition, you’ll learn about Navy Exchange coffee, which a Veteran-owned company sells.

Coffee’s effect on morale during the war

In 2003, Americans sent their troops lots of coffee during Operation Iraqi Freedom. One platoon was even sent ten bags of Starbucks whole bean coffee. Coffee was a constant during the nomadic lifestyle and was a significant source of morale. Even after the war, soldiers continued to drink coffee. Here’s how coffee affected morale during the war. The authors explain that coffee can improve a soldier’s mood by increasing their confidence and energy levels.

The effects of coffee on soldiers’ morale were well documented in photographs. The late President McKinley even organized a mobile field kitchen to serve soldiers coffee. The picture of McKinley giving a soldier a cup of coffee is on a monument at Antietam. The importance of coffee to soldiers during the war is reflected in the memorial dedicated to the late President. Coffee was one of the few items that soldiers valued, and the statue pays tribute to that fact.

Veteran-owned coffee companies

If you’re considering a new cup of joe, a veteran-owned coffee company may be the right choice. These companies are based in the USA and are proudly operated by vets. These companies also have mission-related initiatives, like donating 20% of net sales to veteran-run charities. You might be surprised to learn that many veteran-owned coffee companies are in the USA. The following are some examples.

AK-47 Coffee Blend is made from Colombian beans and features a nutty aroma, dark chocolate notes, and citrus flavors. Veteran-owned coffee company BRCC, founded in 2011, was the first to offer the popular AK-47 coffee blend. BRCC later rebranded its business as Alpha Coffee, a company run by Army veterans. The company also has a troop-support program, sending care packages to deployed troops.

Coffee sent to troops in Iraq

In 2003, the U.S. sent coffee to troops in Iraq, and one platoon got ten bags of Starbucks whole bean coffee. Coffee helped keep the soldiers alert while they were on patrol. One soldier took a broken coffee grinder to Iraq, while another soldier brought a pair of fishing poles. Despite the harsh conditions, coffee is a comforting and essential drink for troops, especially those fighting on the front lines.

In response to this need, a local radio show host, Tom Freeman, sent coffee to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He tapped his 23-year-old military background to help him get the coffee to the soldiers. A friend with a C-130 cargo plane kindly offered to send the coffee to the troops. Twenty-one hours later, it arrived at its destination. Freeman is very thankful to his listeners for their continued support and looks forward to the continued partnership with OSD.

Coffee sold at Navy Exchanges

While there are some advantages to using the service of the U.S. Navy, the main advantage of a Navy Exchange is its price match guarantee. As long as the item is the same brand, manufacturer, size, and model number, a Navy Family store will match the price of the same item sold elsewhere. This program is part of the Navy Exchange’s 14 Day Price Guarantee. So if you see a cheaper coffee somewhere else, don’t worry. You can go to the Exchange and get the same quality for the same price.

The service is offered on many Navy installations worldwide. Customers can choose from a wide variety of products, including private labels, national mass brands, and prestige brands. Many Navy Exchanges offer significant savings compared to the retail prices at other stores. Additionally, many items are priced below the cost of retail. In fact, many Navy Exchange customers save as much as 20 percent compared to the price of their regular stores. It is a great value for money.

Coffee used in anti-war movement

In the 1950s, the anti-war movement was gaining momentum in the United States. As a result, it started to permeate all sectors of U.S. society, including labor unions. But by the 1960s, the pro-Cold War union leadership had been purged from the labor unions, and their members were among the most vocal supporters of the war effort. While this changed the nature of unions, socialists never lost interest in reaching out to union workers.

After the war, G.I. coffeehouses emerged in many cities, especially near military bases. The chain began in Columbia, SC, and spread to other cities in the U.S. This movement helped G.I.s express their opinions about the war through coffee. Pro-war organizations met these coffeehouses with hostility, but they helped soldiers get the news they needed. The future President William McKinley even made a point of attending the anti-war coffeehouses.
