Since time immemorial, millions of people around the world have celebrated Christmas. The roots of this custom are lost in deep antiquity. Each country has its own specific tradition, along with which more and more are being established these days.
Let’s go on a Christmas walk around the world. We will track who perceives and celebrates Christmas in what way, whether children everywhere are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus with a sack full of gifts.

England
Again songs and dances on the eve of Christmas. Every home has a decorated Christmas tree for the joy of every child. And waiting for Santa Claus, who comes down the chimney and leaves the presents in specially prepared long stockings hung on each crib. The Christmas menu is represented by a huge stuffed duck (goose) or turkey with a side of roast potatoes and the remarkable Christmas pudding, which is prepared by all members of the family.
And Catholics in Ireland have a custom of fully lighting their windows. The whole family, with a candle in hand, kneels and prays. Then the candle of the youngest child, or the smallest of the company, is placed in the center of the table, and all the other candles are placed at the edge of the windows to point the way of Mary and Joseph through the night.

Indians pay great attention to the Christmas liturgy. Christians massively attend the service, which lasts two or three hours. Christmas in India is a symbol of brotherhood. Every house should become an island of warmth and understanding. Families visit each other and sing songs, play drums and cymbals, and during this time the hosts treat them with sweets, fruits and flowers. Even non-Christians join in the common celebration of human charity.

Samosa recipe
flour - 300 g. type 500
potatoes - 500 g.
peas - green 150 g.
onion - 50 g.
hot peppers - 1 pc.
Coriander - green 1/4 link
cumin - 1 tsp
ginger
garam masala - 1 tsp.
salt - 2 tsp
Method of preparation:
The flour and 1/2 tsp. salt are mixed. Add 4 tbsp. oil and knead until coarse crumbs are obtained. Gradually add water (about 110 ml) and mix until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The dough is smeared with fat, covered and left to stand for at least half an hour. In the meantime, boil the potatoes and, after they have cooled, peel them and cut them into half-centimeter cubes.
11
Heat four tablespoons of oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. After reducing the heat, add the finely chopped onion and fry until golden brown. Add peas, ginger, finely chopped chives and green coriander, potatoes, remaining salt, ground cumin, 1 tsp. ground coriander and 1 tsp. garam masala. Stir over low heat for 3-4 minutes and remove from the stove.
The dough is mixed and divided into 10 balls, which are rolled into circles with a diameter of 12-13 centimeters. After the circle is divided in two, each half is rolled into a cone (water is used for sticking), filled with about 2.5 tsp. of the potato filling and cover.
The prepared samosas are fried on medium heat in a deep pan in oil about 5 cm from the bottom, after it has heated up. Fry until the samosas are brown and crispy, then remove, drain from the fat and serve hot.

Australia
Christmas in Australia is celebrated on December 25, as here. The difference is that for the Australians then it is the height of the children’s summer vacation. So, the warm season allows the festivities to take place outdoors without people feeling cold.
The most popular event that happens during the Christmas holidays is called “candle carols”. People come together at night in the square or around the cathedral with candles in their hands and sing carols. The stars shine above their heads. This wonderful view makes the kind of Christmas concert unforgettable.

South Korea
South Korean Christians celebrate Christmas much like the holiday is celebrated here, but with less emphasis on gifts and decorations and more emphasis on the religious traditions that underpin the holiday.
In Korea, Christmas is primarily a religious holiday and less of an excuse for shopping and spending in general. Families may attend Mass or a church service on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (or both), and Christmas parties are popular for young Christians on Christmas Eve.
Some families celebrate Christmas with food and gatherings at home, but Koreans also celebrate Christmas by going out. Restaurants are busy on Christmas Day, as it’s considered a romantic holiday for couples (just like Valentine’s Day), and theme parks and shows have special Christmas events.
19
Christmas buffets are popular in Seoul, and many residents book their Christmas dinners well in advance of the holiday. You can find everything from the traditional roast turkey, to sushi and crab legs.
Santa Claus is popular among children in Korea (he is known as Santa Harabuee) and wears either a red or a blue Santa suit. Children know him as a happy, gift-giving Santa figure, and stores hire Santa to greet shoppers and hand out chocolates and candies.
People in Korea usually exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, and instead of lots, it’s common for everyone to get one

Hosomaki sushi
sushi rolls - 6 pieces of Nori
rice for sushi - 250 g
water - 350 ml
white rice vinegar - 2 - 3 tablespoons
sugar - tablespoon
salt - 1/2 teaspoon
salmon - 100 years
carrot - 2 pcs.
avocado - 1 pc.
cream cheese - philadelphia
soy sauce
wasabi
Method of preparation
I washed the sushi rice very well until the water ran clear and let it drain for about 20 minutes.
In a vessel with a wide and thick bottom (who has a rice cooker can use it) I poured the rice and poured cold water over it.
After boiling, I reduced the heat to low and let it cook for 15 minutes.
22
I turned off the heat and let it rest for another 10 minutes without lifting the lid.
Then I transferred the rice to another non-metallic container (in my case glass, since I don’t have a wooden one).
While my rice was cooking, I prepared the vinegar, sugar and salt marinade.
I warmed up slightly to help the ingredients dissolve and left to cool. I added the cooled marinade to the cooked and cooled rice and mixed very well.
I had pre-cut the vegetables and the salmon.
Using a wooden mat, I shaped the roll, leaving about an inch of the skins free of rice and wetting the end with water to help it stick together better.
After all the rolls were rolled, I cut the sushi with a sharp knife, cleaning and wetting with water after each cut. Hosomaki sushi is ready.

Bulgaria
The Christmas Eve table is laden with an odd number of lean dishes. Foods traditional to the country are typical, such as oshav made of dried fruits, beans, boiled wheat, bread… Foods that are produced by the family, and not those that we can buy in the store, are always served, because that was the tradition of the time. in which people did not have supermarkets, but relied on their own labor. Red wine must also be present, because it symbolizes the blood of Jesus Christ.
The oldest man breaks off a piece of the bread, which he places in front of the icon of the Virgin, and then everyone begins to eat. All this is intact through the ages. There is also a modern tradition that we have created – placing lucky charms in the pieces of bread. So everyone can see what awaits them in the coming year.
25
A very old custom is to place a special Christmas tree in the hearth on the night before Christmas. The table was the concern of the women, while the men had the task of bringing a large tree, usually an oak, into the house. In addition to keeping the fire going throughout the night, the family knew through it what the year would be like: if the fire was raging, then the year was expected to be fertile and rich. It is the Bulgarians who still observe this custom today. But on the other hand, nowadays we decorate the whole house with Christmas decorations, balls, garlands, lights and at least one big tree. The whole home makeover manages to create the necessary Christmas spirit.
26

The caroling We can’t help but mention the most distinctive feature of the Bulgarian Christmas – the carolers. Christmas carolers are young men who go from house to house after midnight on Christmas Eve. It is believed that this is when supernatural beings such as goblins, goblins and vampires come out. And since ancient times, people have believed that carolers have the power to drive out these evil spirits. The songs they sing are about health and prosperity. And the owners welcome them warmly and impatiently, gifting them with ties. Fortunately, this tradition is still observed today in some parts of Bulgaria.
