What is faith?

Real biblical faith manifests itself in daily life. Because it is how we communicate with God, faith is vitally important. In the Bible, God and his promises serve as the object of faith. We profit from what Jesus has done for us because of our faith. Faith is the total reliance on who and what Jesus is in order to reconcile us to God.

Hebrews 11:1 is the closest the Bible gets to providing an explicit description. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
