Hello, this book is “Guitar for Dummies”. Before you even hold the guitar, you will need to take the guitar out of the case. Make sure you have a comfortable chair to sit in and sit in it with the guitar in hand.

Before you start playing hot cross buns you must learn how to sit. Find a comfortable chair and place your feet flat on the floor. Make sure your back is off the back of the chair and sit up straight and tall.

When you hold the guitar the thickest string should be on top and the long part, the neck, should be facing left. The guitar must be pointed straight and in line with the floor and not pointed down or upward. The bottom inward curve of the guitar should be on top of your right upper thigh. You should have you left hand on the neck of the guitar and your right hand over the sound hold.

Your left hand should be on the long part of the guitar. You right arm can be placed on top of the guitar while having your right hand over the sound hole. Your thumb on your left hand should be pressing into the back of the neck in about the middle of it and your other fingers should be curved under the neck.

The numbers on the tab represent the the fret your finger goes in. The string order is from bottom to top, so the bottom string is on the top of the tab (eBGDAE). For hot cross buns you’ll use the B string and the G string, these are the 2 strings your thinner bottom strings

The first note you play in hot cross buns will be in your B string in the 4th fret. When playing the strings your fingers should be firmly pressed in about the middle of the fret (between the metal bars on the neck). After you play your B string in the 4th fret you go to your 2nd fret and play the G-string. Then you play the G-string without pressing on a fret, then you repeat the same pattern once. When ‘strumming’ with your right hand make sure to play the same string your left fingers are pressing on. On the G-string you play it open 4 times and play the G-string in the 3rd fret 4 times. To end the song you have to repeat the first pattern again. Now you know how to play hot cross buns.
