The Jezreel Valley Railway was a historic railroad that operated in Israel between 1905 and 1948 as a part of The Hijaz train. The railway was built by the Ottomans to connect the coastal city of Haifa with the eastern part of the country, passing through the Jezreel Valley, an important agricultural area.
The construction of the railway was challenging, as it required building a long tunnel through the Carmel mountain range. Despite the difficulties, the railway was completed in 1905, and it quickly became an important transportation route for goods and passengers.

During World War I, the Jezreel Valley railway played a vital role in transporting troops and supplies for the British army. However, in the following years, the railway faced financial difficulties and declining use due to competition from other modes of transportation, such as automobiles and trucks.

In 1948, during the Arab-Israeli War, the railway was attacked and severely damaged by Arab forces, forcing it to shut down permanently. Despite the loss, the Jezreel Valley railway remains an important part of Israeli history, as it played a significant role in the development of the country’s infrastructure and economy.

Today the Jezreel Valley Railway is operating from Haifa to Beit Shean
