The Tamar Festival is an Israeli and foreign music festival, which takes place every year, since 1999, throughout the Tamar Regional Council, in the Dead Sea region.
This five day Tamar Festival is one of Israel’s largest music festivals, featuring some of Israel’s greatest musicians as well as music from around the world all in a unique and powerful setting in Israel’s Negev Desert.
The performances take place in several open desert sites in the Dead Sea region:
the summit of Masada, Masada Temple (at the foot of Mount Masada), the botanical garden in Ein Gedi, and the settlements of Sodom Square.
Some of the shows in Masada start at night and continue until sunrise.
Due to the unique desert setting, the Tamar Festival offers more than just music – with daily events including hikes and tours taking advantage of the beauty of the area, as well as childrens’ activities, and tours of the agricultural and community that this area of the Negev has seen.
It is recommended to stay overnight in one of the hotels in the Dead Sea.
There are round-trip shuttles for festival participants from a number of central cities, as well as shuttles from the Ein Bokek hotel complex adjacent to the festival site.
For those coming with a car, free shuttles lead to the site and from there back to the parking lot.

In the last Sukkut, we travelled to the desert three couples to watch the Tamar Festival for the first time.
We took two nights at guest rooms calld Korin house at ‘Naut HaKikar’ , which is a settlement in the south of the Dead Sea not so far from the show.
It was three days full of music, trips and a lot of food.
I recommend for those who want to go to the festival, organize some friends for one or two nights, go shopping for a barbecue and breakfast, take a walk on the shores of the Dead Sea.
It was a very enjoyable trip!
