Once upon a time, in ancient Israel, the people believed in a cosmic system of twelve signs, each representing a different aspect of life. These signs were known as the astrological zodiac.
The Jewish sages of the time saw value in this system, but also recognized the dangers of idolatry that could come with worshipping the stars and planets. So, they adapted the zodiac to fit within the framework of Jewish teachings.
They assigned each sign a Hebrew name and a corresponding biblical figure, such as Aries for the ram sacrificed by Abraham, and Pisces for the fish swallowed by Jonah. These figures were meant to serve as reminders of important lessons and values in Jewish tradition.
Over time, the zodiac became incorporated into Jewish culture, appearing in artwork and literature. It was seen not as a tool for divination or worship, but rather as a way to connect with the cosmos and appreciate the beauty of creation.
Today, the astrological zodiac still holds a place in Jewish culture, as a symbol of the rich history and traditions of the Jewish people.
