THE STONE GRAVES

Stone graves – a branch of the Ukrainian State Steppe Natural Park.

 It is located near the village of Nazarovka in the Nikolsky district of the Donetsk region (300 ha) and the Rozovsky district of the Zaporozhye region

    In 2008, the Stone Graves    National park was in the top 21  of the All-Ukrainian   competition

Of great value  “Stone Graves” presents as historical and archaeological point of view.

In ancient times, this place  was a cult.

Along its entire perimeter  there are burial mounds in two rings, nine and eighteen    kilometers in diameter.

Numerous “women” –  ancient cult stone  sculptures – are exhibited  near the central estate  of the reserve.

This is a flowering virgin steppe, untouched by human hands, so the plant and animal kingdom is very diverse here. The originality of the relief, the peculiarities of rock exfoliation, the diversity of the conditions for the growth of flora on Stone Graves – all this has long been of interest to scientists. 29 species of flora grow in the reserve, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

Stone Graves is a unique natural and historical monument, unfortunately, almost unfamiliar to the general public.  Only in recent years,  its popularity among tourists has increased slightly.
