If you don’t want to lose your money, learn the reasons for account blocking in bookmakers. Sometimes even seemingly ordinary bets can lead to a ban.

To protect your funds, you need to know why bookmakers block accounts and why they reduce the maximum bet sizes. In this article, we will discuss why bookmakers block their customers’ accounts, what leads to bans for successful players, and how to avoid them.

This article is made possible thanks to the Betting Academy of the “Championship” and Fonbet. Learn about sports betting, take tests, and receive a bonus of up to 15,000 rubles!

Reasons why bookmakers block their customers’ accounts Bookmakers block accounts of their customers for the following reasons:

Multi-accounting

Creating multiple accounts is considered a gross violation of the rules by all bookmaking companies.

Suspicion of multi-accounting may arise if:

  • One person uses the personal information of others, including family members, to register new accounts.
  • A group of players acts in collusion to place bets in order to bypass established restrictions.

Use of specialized software

Using bots to automate bets based on predefined parameters is considered a violation by bookmakers.

Arbitrage betting

A customer may engage in arbitrage betting, which involves placing bets on all possible outcomes of an event with guaranteed profit. However, bookmakers are capable of identifying such players and may limit bet sizes or temporarily freeze the account.

Unfair play

If a player places bets on fixed matches, the bookmaker reserves the right to consider such bets suspicious and settle them at odds of 1.00.

Suspicion of unfair play is considered justified if a specialized national or international organization initiates an investigation into a match, such as the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU), Early Warning System GmbH (EWS), or FederBet AISBL.

Additionally, if a customer places bets on events in which they participate as a player or club official, the bookmaker can cancel the payout for such bets.

If a player consistently places bets that raise suspicion, the bookmaker may add them to a blacklist.

Bets on already determined outcomes (post-goal betting)

This refers to bets on outcomes that have already occurred but have not yet been reflected in the bookmaker’s odds.

Bookmakers may overlook occasional post-goal bets. However, consistently making such bets can result in them being settled at odds of 1.00 or even lead to the blocking of funds withdrawal.

3

This involves intentionally registering with a bookmaker, receiving the maximum allowable deposit, and using it to place bets on suspicious events.

The bookmaker may temporarily suspend operations on the gaming account to investigate the gaming activity.

Why successful players are blocked by bookmakers The main reasons for account blocking have been mentioned above. However, there are players who violate the rules and end up in a negative balance. Some bookmakers allow such players to continue playing and only block those who gain an advantage.

Illegal bookmakers can block your account at any time without providing a reason. Even profitable play without rule violations can be a reason for a ban.

When contacting customer support, you may, at best, recover your funds without any profit.

The best legal bookmakers do not restrict maximum bet sizes for fair play. Adhere to all rules, and you will be able to withdraw funds from your account at any time without limitations.
