PERAST

Kotor Stari Grad and Perast are the two most picturesque and favorite places of the whole bay. They set up soldiers to protect Perast and Kotor. But I guess they were all also poets, painters, etc. As you can see when you look at the map, Boka is located right across the narrowest strait of the bay. There were castles on both sides of the Bosphorus. Thus, the enemy, caught in crossfire from 3 places, could not enter.

DEBROTA

This is a seaside town consisting of magnificent historical houses: Debrota. The town experienced its own renaissance in the seventeenth and the nineteenth centuries when it had the most ships in the bay. It is also the favorite summer resort of Kotor residents.

BUDVA

Budva was ruled by the Venetian Republic from 1420-1797 and then after a couple interruptions by the Austro-Hungarian empire until 1918. After WWI Serbian forces entered Budva and made it part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It was only after WWII that Budva became part of the then Socialist Republic of Montenegro.

Kotor Old Town or Kotor Stari Grad

Various civilizations have ruled Kotor throughout history, but the most influential among them were the Venetians, who managed to stay here for 400 years (1420 – 1797). The current architecture of the city is also inherited from them. You know; Italians are very good at aesthetics, and when you add the magnificent geography on which Kotor is built, an intoxicating beauty emerges.

SVETI STEFAN

The earliest record of Sveti Stefan is as the capital of the Paštrovići community, which became a protectorate of the Republic of Venice in 1423, having been independent since the twelfth century. The Paštrovići accepted Venetian sovereignty because they were fearful of attack from the Turks.

PRZNO

When Przno was founded, it is difficult to say – historians say that the first Phoenician settlements appeared here in the 5th century BC. Later on the territory of modern Przno was ruled by Greeks and Romans, Venetians and Austrians (until 2006, when Montenegro became independent). Pržo became a resort area in the XIX century, when the Yugoslav royal family established their “vacation” residence here.

TIVAT

Tivat, known as Teodo in Venetian, was under the Republic of Venice as a part of Albania Veneta from 1420 to 1797. In those centuries Teodo enjoyed economic development that attracted many Serb refugees from Ottoman-held areas. Some Venetian-style buildings are still standing today.
