SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
Simple Present Tense is the present tense in Turkish. This tense is generally used when talking about actions and habits that are performed regularly.
Simple Present Tense Structure
POSITIVE:
When creating a positive sentence with Simple Present Tense, the simple form of the verb is used. -s suffix is added to the verbs used with the subjects he/she/It.
I like pizza.
-You always look beautiful.
-We sometimes go to the cinema.
-They get up early.
*He likes pizza.
*She looks beautiful.
*It drinks milk.
NEGATIVE:
In negative sentence structure;
“don’t” with the subjects I, You, We, They
“Doesn’t” is used with He/She/It subjects. The verb that comes after “doesn’t” DOES NOT take the -s ending.
-I don’t eat meat.
-You don’t tidy your room.
-We don’t like rude people.
-They don’t drink cola.
*He doesn’t eat meat.
*She doesn’t tidy her room.
*It doesn’t drink milk.
QUESTION SENTENCE:
In interrogative sentences, do and does come before the subject and the verb is always used in its simple form.
–Do I help you?
–Do you like coffee?
–Do we go to work by car?
–Do they water the garden every day?
*Does he drive a car?
*Does she speak German?
*Does it play with toys?
