4th Grade Science Lesson
To Educators:
This book is geared towards ages 8-10 years old, or 4th grade. This book focuses on our Solar System. The book describes the individual features of each planet, as well as their order from closest to furthest from the Sun. The students will learn the basics of our solar system and be able to identify the planets, the Sun, the moon, Asteroids, Comets, and Meteors.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will be able to identify features of the solar system such as: the moon, the sun, the planets, comets, and asteroids.
- Students will be able to label the planets in order, from closest to farthest from the Sun.
- Students will be able to identify distinct features of the Plants and Solar System.

Asteroids, Comets, Meteors, and how they affect our Solar System.
Discussion Questions:
- Pick a planet, and write down the key characteristics of the Planet.
- Which Planet is the most interesting in your opinion, and why?
- What “Planet” is the smallest, furthest from the Sun, and no longer considered a real planet?
- What are asteroids?
Follow-up Activity:
Fill in all the names of the Planets in our Solar System, as well as put them in order from closest to farthest from the Sun.
