Elements of a Story

To Educators:

This book is intended to be used in grades 1-3.

Understanding the elements of a story is important for young children. It helps them comprehend the book and analyze it better.

Leanring Objectives:

Students will learn how to identify the elements of a story. This includes the characters, setting, and events

Characters:

Ask yourself, who are the people or animals in the story? These are the characters. They have their own personality and thoughts throughout the book.

Setting:

The setting is that where and when of the story. It is the place where the book takes place. This could be a house, a magical forest, or school.

Events:

These are the things that happen throughout the story. They are the exciting or important moments that keep the story moving.

Discussion Questions (After reading your desired book answer the following):

1. What is the main problem in the story?
2. Where does the story take place?
3. Who are the main characters?
