The events begin with the arrival of a mysterious and strange man in clothing whose appearance conceals his features to a local inn during a snow storm.
Through dealing with him, it became clear that he is an isolated person who is quick to anger and does not have the ability to communicate with others.
He spent most of his time in his room experimenting by mixing a variety of chemicals and using some laboratory equipment.
When he went out, he would cause a lot of accidents most of the time, and when he told him about what had happened, he would ask Mrs. Hall (the innkeeper) to add those losses to his housing bill.
Many strange bottles arrived to him during his stay, which sparked controversy among the village residents, as many of them searched for the origin of this strange man.
One day, a robbery occurred in the village, causing the mysterious man to lose all his money. He was then unable to pay the housing bill, which sparked his anger at Mrs. Al-Hawl when she demanded that he pay.
Mrs. Hall informed the police, and Police Officer Javers tried to find him, but failed because Griffin had taken off his strange clothes, so no one could recognize him.
When Griffin went to the southern area of โโthe village, he met one of the homeless people, who was later one of his assistants, but when Griffin asked him to go to the village and bring him three notebooks in which the results of his experiments were recorded, he entered the homeless section.
Thomas headed to the city of Burdock Harbor to escape from Griffin, but Griffin followed him there, where he took refuge in one of the houses that is near a terrifying and frightening local inn known as the Fire Inn.
He later discovered that this house belonged to a doctor who was an acquaintance from medical school, as Griffin had been a medical student before devoting his life to optics.
Griffin told Kemp about his invention, that he had invented chemicals capable of making corpses invisible, and that he had conducted a test on the corpse of one of the cats and it succeeded, and that he had also performed this test on himself one time when he burned down the boarding house in which he lived and found himself incompetent. He was still alive, so he used these chemicals, but he found himself out in the open and stole clothes from a theater supply store, so his appearance appeared angry and strange.
Kemp proposed to present his invention to important men in the state, but he set up a trap for Griffin to be arrested by the police. Griffin escaped from that trap and vowed to Kemp to kill him.
Kemp used himself as bait to try to capture Griffin again by sending a message with his servants, but Griffin killed Khama after hiding himself.
After that, Griffin broke into Kemp’s house after killing the colonel to kill him, but Kemp fled to the city.
Griffin never got tired of trying to kill Kemp, but in the end he was the one who was brutally killed by the angry people who surrounded him and beat him to death.
