SHORT HİSTORY ABOUT BİCYCLE
The history of the bicycle dates back to the early 19th century. The first known precursor was the “Draisine,” invented by Baron Karl von Drais in 1817. This wooden, two-wheeled contraption required the rider to push along with their feet.In the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel, leading to the “Velocipede,” also known as the “boneshaker,” due to its uncomfortable ride on cobbled streets. By the 1870s, the high-wheel bicycle, or “ordinary,” became popular, featuring a large front wheel and a smaller rear wheel.
The late 19th century saw significant advancements with the introduction of the safety bicycle, which had equal-sized wheels and a chain drive, making it more stable and accessible. This design laid the groundwork for modern bicycles. The early 20th century brought further innovations like pneumatic tires and gear systems, and by the mid-1900s, bicycles became widely used for transportation and recreation. Today, bicycles are integral to both urban commuting and sports, reflecting a rich history of engineering and social change.
