Drift racing is a motorsport and driving technique where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing the rear wheels of the car to lose traction while maintaining control of the vehicle. This results in the car sliding sideways through corners, which is not only a test of driving skill but also an artistic display of car control.
Drift racing gained mainstream popularity in the early 2000s, partly due to the “Fast & Furious” film franchise and video games like “Need for Speed” and “Forza.” It continues to be a significant part of motorsport, with events held worldwide, including professional series like Formula Drift.
