This story was based on the following prompt: stall + bouquet. Less than 100 words.
I wrote it together with Hagai Cohen as part of our early morning SCBWI writers get together.

I wanted to buy June a bouquet for her birthday. But her favorite flower is daffodils and everyone knows that June’s birthday is in June. And daffodils bloom in March. I fretted.

But then I had it. A great idea. A plan. I drew a picture of a daffodil. It was grand and white and yellow and daffodil all over. I signed it and had it framed.

“Happy Birthday,” I said, giving her the picture. She took one look at it.
6
“Thank you,” she said. She took a photo from her purse and handed it to me.
“Goodbye,” she said.
7
Years have passed.
I have lost her photo.
But I still have the daffodil.
