This year we went on a class trip to Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel. It is a very old and beautiful city. Jerusalem is a holy place for Jews, Christians and Muslims. Jerusalem is a very special place and a very beautiful city and that is why many tourists visit Jerusalem every year.
On Sunday morning we met at 8:00 a.m at school and got on the buses on our way to Jerusalem. The night before I packed a bag with clothes, a sleeping bag and etc.’ I also packed food, water and my favorite snacks. We had to bring breakfast and lunch for the first day of the trip. We left school at around 8:30 a.m. The bus ride took two hours and we stopped for a break along the way. I sat with my friends; we listened to music and talked a lot. It was fun.
We arrived to our first destination- Shvil hama’ayanot (Spring Road). This road was short and easy. We stopped a lot to listen to our guide’s explanations about the place. The view was very beautiful and we saw how people made the terrace for growing their corp. Around 3.00 P.M we finished the track, and went to a Bedouin tent, where we spent our nights. The tent was divided to two: on one side of the tent the boys slept and on the other side the boys slept. The tent was very big and we had to bring sleeping bags. The teachers slept in huts. We had to prepare our own food. Every day different pupils made the food. We cut vegetables and prepared a salad. We made hotdogs and hamburgers. The food wasn’t good so I was happy that I brought snacks.
In the evening there was a class activity. My class interrupted the children who were supposed to conduct it so we didn’t enjoy the activity. At 11.00 P.M we went to sleep. The teachers made sure that we went to sleep and they shouted at those who made noise. There were air conditioners in the tent so it was very cold during the night. I hardly slept during the first night because it wasn’t very comfortable.

On the second day we woke at 6:00 a.m. Some children had to prepare breakfast. The rest of the children got dressed, washed their faces and bushed their teeth. For breakfast ae ate eggs, cereals and drank tea. When we finished eating we prepared sandwiches for lunch. At 9.00 a.m we got on the buses and drove to Nahal Meara (Cave Brook). The track was very long and difficult. Our homeroom teacher had to go back to school to teach pupils for their Bagrut examination so the children in my class were divided between the other classes. The track was 10 kilometers long. The day was very hot so we had to drink a lot of water. During the track I didn’t feel good and threw up. We stopped a lot to listen to our guide. There was a little hill and we slid off of it. We entered a cave with bats. The track was very difficult and we had to climb a lot. The view was very beautiful. We finished around 4.00 p.m and drove to the tent.
We showered and ate a dinner that I prepared. We ate chicken breast, hotdogs and soup with cuscus. The foot wasn’t tasty but I ate it anyway. In the evening we had a class activity and a bonfire. I spent the evening with my friends; we talked and had fun. The trip was a great opportunity to get closer to different children and I enjoyed it a lot. At 11:00 p.m we went to sleep. That night I was so tiered that I slept like a baby.

On the third day we woke up at 6:00 a.m. We got dressed and ate eggs and vegetables. We left the tent for the last time. We got on the busses and drove to Beit Govrin to visit the different caves. We didn’t hike like in the first two days. It was a different kind of tour. The bus took us from one cave to the next. We arrived to the first cave and when we went inside it got very cold. We used flashlights in order to see. Our tour guide explained to whom the caved belonged. We saw many holes in the walls of the caves. We saw four caves. After the tour in the caves we ate the sandwiches that we prepared in the morning .After lunch we got on the buses and drove back to Haifa. We really looked forward to getting back home. We arrived to Haifa at 4:00 p.m and my mother picked me up from school. I was happy to be back, to eat a good dinner and to sleep in my comfortable bed.
To sum up, I enjoyed the trip. The walks were very long and difficult but we visited interesting places. I had fun in the tent because I was with my friends. I think that those trips are very important because they give us the opportunity to get closer to our friends and to meet other pupils from different classes. In addition, that is a great way to get to know our country and our capital city- Jerusalem. It is also important to take a break from our routine and to experience new things. However, I would have preferred to sleep in a hostel and not in a tent and to eat good food instead of the bad food that we prepared.
