Osaka is an important commercial, cultural and culinary center of Japan, located in the Kansai region of Honshu Island. The second or third largest city after Tokyo, Osaka is known as the “Nation’s Cuisine” and is home to a rich gastronomy, historical and modern attractions, a major port and the headquarters of electronics companies. Landmarks of the city include Osaka Castle, Shitennoji Temple and Dotonbori district.

Osaka’s cultural food is renowned for its delicious street snacks and emphasis on “zero waste cuisine”. Iconic dishes include takoyaki (octopus balls), okonomiyaki (savory pancake), and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). The city also boasts excellent fresh seafood, flavorful ramen and udon, and high-quality wagyu beef.
