The Life and Times of Yehoshua Rosenschein

Yehoshua Rosenschein was born in Munkacs on 1891 to Yakov Melech Rosenschein and Faiga Rosenschein. Yehoshua married Rivkah Weinberger and they had 5 children. One of them was Martin Mayer, father of my good friend Bob Rosenschein. Here is Bob’s account of his family history.

In 1891, the year that Yehoshua was born, the daughter of a Jewish tailor disappeared in Greece. A rumor spread that she was a Christian girl, who was killed by the Jews as a ritual murder.  In the same year, the Jews were expelled from Moscow, Russia.

Yehoshua was murdered by the Nazis during the Second World War. His sons Martin and Shimi managed to escape.
