Faigel Rosenberg – Our Mom’s Favorite English Tunes

Mom died five and a half years ago. We think of her constantly – her wit, her charm, her singular thoughts on life. Mom is no longer with us, but the memories are. When Mom died, there was no Ourboox. But now there is. I’m starting with a book of her favorite tunes in English.

Mom would have preferred a book of her favorite Yiddish tunes, but someone took Theodor Bikel off youtube and I’m having trouble finding good available Yiddish songs.

So here is a book of some of her favorite songs in English.

Mom used to sing us this song. And I’m pretty sure she loved Eddie Cantor. Mom might not have approved of the picture on the video, but hey Ma, it’s my book too!

Mom loved this one. And so did we. And we always squeezed. The recording came out in 1945? Mom would have been sweet sixteen!

Danny Kaye? Always. Mom had this record, a takeoff on the original Cab Calloway’s Minnie the Moocher. Enjoy!
