The first step to a hurricane starting is when hot water and cold air collide with each other. This will make the cold air go down and the hot water go up.

The second step to a hurricane forming is that the winds have to be a least 39 mph. and the water being hot so it can be held up.

Then the wind forms a cyclone that extends to the clouds and with water and ice it forms a hurricane.

The worst hurricane ever is hurricane Katrina which hit New Orleans. This killed 1,836 people and at the end costed 125 billion dollars.
