The climate is mild in Ireland and it rains a lot, especially in the west.

The grass grows very green in the warm, wet climate and so Ireland

is often called “The Emerald Isle”.Ireland has mild winters and cool summers.

Temperature is in January is about 6 C. In July it is about 15 C.

In the past, many Irish people left the country,

looking for a better life elsewhere.

Religion

Over 90 per cent of the people in the Republic are Roman Catholic.

Northern Ireland is mainly Protestant.

Soccer, the traditional Irish games of hurling and Gaelic football, golf,

horse racing and fishing are some of the most popular sports in Ireland today.
