The Republic has two official languages, Irish and English.

All official documents and road signs are in both languages.

The Emerald Isle

 

The climate is mild in Ireland and it rains a lot, especially in the west.

The grass grows very green in the warm, wet climate and so Ireland

is often called “The Emerald Isle”.Ireland has mild winters and cool summers.

Temperature is in January is about 6 C. In July it is about 15 C.

looking for a better life elsewhere.

Over 90 per cent of the people in the Republic are Roman Catholic.

Northern Ireland is mainly Protestant.
