RELATIVE PRONOUNS / CLAUSES

They can describe the noun which comes before them. מתארות את שם העצם שלפניהן
- The person who came in looked angry.
- I had a meal which was delicious.
- I can’t wait to tell you about the people that I met.
- Some of the places that we visited were impressive.
They are ords that are used to connect sentences. מילים שמחברות משפטים.
I met a boy. He had just come back from Nepal.
I met a boy who had just come back from Nepal.
Dan works for a company. It makes spaghetti.
Dan works for a company which makes spaghetti.
To talk about place and time, we use where and when. כדי לדבר על מקום וזמן נשתמש ב-
- This is the place where I live.
- This is the date when I was born.
To show possessiveness we use whose להראות שייכות נשתמש ב-
- Arik is the boy whose pen I borrowed.
- This is the actor whose movie won the Oscar.
We use:
- who – for people
- which – for animals and objects
- that – for people and animals / objects (will not come after a comma.)
- where – for places
- when – for time
- why – for explaining a reason
- whose – for possessiveness
- whom – for people (mostly after prepositions)
