The ominous steps approaching the door woke the little girl from her thoughts. She knew what was going to happen, and yet, she found herself unwillingly crouching under the blanket, while a faint voice in her head trying to tell her to be strong this time.

In a glimpse of an eye, you could have mistaken her, thinking she is just another ordinary 12 years old girl. Only close examination will reveal a determined look which is the result of experienced and old soul.

But there she was, praying for the god she didn’t believe in that this time it will be different. This time her schizophrenic mom will be the woman she admired. The woman who used to read for her bedtime stories and caressed her hair while she was falling asleep. The woman who has been stuck within, fighting with the other entities of the controlling on the body. She hated her and loved her at the same time, cursing the moment her mom decided to give up the pills, letting the entities taking control of her, and afterward, the decaying into darkness of what she learned to love and appreciate.

The blanket was torn off from her at once, revealing the crouching body on the bed with fear. The girl jumped from the bed to the at the foot of the woman who leaned over her. Now she was just a woman, not her mom – she could tell it by the way the woman’s eyes looked at her – Merciless eyes. She pleaded her not to hit her, just this once, calling out for her mom to take control over her body and banish all of the other entities. The pleading was answered with a stinging slap with the residual taste of blood in her mouth.

The little girl screamed with pain and fear while the woman was cornering her. The woman hand rose above for the preparation of the next hit, but then it stopped. Something was different – the eyes of the little girl were now burning with anger, the faint voice in her head now became a shout. She pushed the woman from her way and run to the kitchen. The little girl urgently opened the kitchen drawers, taking advantage of the woman’s shock from being pushed.

She found what she was looking for just in the second the woman stormed, fists clenched, at her back. The little girl turned in alarm and the knife she was holding slid into the jumping woman’s body with sickening sound. All of a sudden, it was her mom again, not the woman. Her mom stroked the little girl hair with her last powers, telling her that she is sorry for what she went through and that’s not her fault. she is going to heaven now.

The tears of the little girl fell upon her dead mom, while sirens in the background heralding the arrival of the rescue forces.
