Mr. Know All

My name is Mr. Kelada, I’m a rich British man and I’m about to tell you my journey from San Francisco all the way to Yokohama.

We’re shortly after World War 1.
The ocean going liners was heavy, so I joined someone else’s cabin. I didn’t mind sharing a cabin with someone. If he’ll be British it’ll be great.
Right now my favorite place in the ship is the bar. I like to drink.

When I first arrived at the ship, I expected the state rooms will be small but I didn’t know it’ll be this small.
Even though I hope my companion will be British because I’m all about British sticking together, I don’t mind meeting new people.

When I arrived my room I met my companion.
I wasn’t sure if he liked me or not so I tried making him like me more by playing cards with him and showing him some good tricks.

After my dinner with my companion, I heard people in the ship started calling me ‘Mr. know All’.

I was flattered. The people must think I’m really smart.
I think it’s because I shared with my companion a lot of interesting facts.

A few days later we set down to eat dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Ramsay and the doctor.
We started an argument about culture pearls. I was happy we talked about that topic because I was in the pearls business.

Mr. Ramsay and I made a bet on Mrs. Ramsay pearl necklace.
Mr. Ramsay said it was cultured pearls and I knew those were real pearls.
I was about to reveal the truth when I noticed Mrs. Ramsay’s pale face.
I inferred she didn’t want me to tell her husband the truth.

After the dinner I went back to my room.
I felt bad with my decision not telling the truth, because I have a reputation I need to keep, but I’ll choose integrity over reputation any day.

A few minutes after relaxing in my room I heard a knock on the door.
I asked my companion to open the door and there was an envelope for me from Mr. Ramsay.
Inside the envelope there was 100$, the money I lost in the bet.
I guess Mrs. Ramsay really appreciated what I did for her so I felt good with my decision not revealing the truth about the pearl necklace.
