Dear diary,
The old days after the first world war were hard for most people.
The ocean going liners were heavy and if you wanted to go by a ship you needed to share a room with someone, most of the times with somebody you don’t know..

However, for me the trip from San Francisco to Yokohama was very relaxing.
I had time for myself without worrying about my beloved wife and children.

The problem was with one chatty and argumentative passenger who just couldn’t
stop talking about any subject you can imagine from plays, pictures, and politics.

Dear diary,
It has been a great day for me, I met a lady. She is simple but pretty and has good manners.
I liked her smile and her voice was like an angel. For a moment I thought about Nancy and if she were here with another man.

However, I found out that she was married to a heavy fellow from the Middle West, Mr Ramsay. He was in the American Consular Service and was stationed at Kobe. He was on his way back to work, having been on a flying visit to New York to take his lovely wife who had been spending a year at home. I’m sure they are happy together.

Dear diary,
One evening at dinner time we had a conversation about pears. Mr kelada told us that he was going to Japan and there is one who knows better then him in the trad of pearls. He was very competitive and arrogant: “I know all the best pearls in the world, and what I don’t know about pearls isn’t worth knowing.”

Mr kelada had never said something about his work or what’s his business. We only knew that he was going to Japan on some commercial errand. Mr Kelada and Mr Ramsay bet on 100 dollars that the chain of Mrs Ramsay is fake. Mr Kelada thought it was real although Mr Ramsay told that Mrs Ramsay bought the chain at a department store the day before they left New York, for only eighteen dollars.

After Mr Ramsay gave Mr Kelada the chain he loked at it carefully. You could see that he was about to speak but Mrs Ramsay’s face were white and she looked at him with big terrified eyes. It was crystal clear that Mr Kelada made an effort to keep Mrs Ramsay’s secret from her husband.

Dear diary,
Yesterday, after we came back to our cabin I thought to myself, how that Mr Ramsay could not see how worried his wife was? Mrs Ramsay is not loyal as I thought she was. I’m glad I don’t need to deal with cheaters in my life.

I’m not sure if i realy dislike Mr kelada but I’m sure that from now on I will not judge people only by first impression. Instead of looking at the bad or negative things you can also notice beauty and kindness of people.
