The history of the palace
Buckingham House was originally built in 1703. In 1762 the building was purchased by King George III, who expanded and enlarged it. In 1837 the palace became the main palace of the British royal family.
The palace has 19 state guest rooms, 52 royal bedrooms, 188 bedrooms for servants, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms

Queen Elizabeth II lives in Buckingham Palace on weekdays with her husband Prince Philip. The palace has 450 employees, and is visited by 50,000 guests a year and many tourists.
In front of the palace, a guard-shift ceremony takes place every day in the summer, which hundreds of tourists come to see.
