Dear Diary,

Since I came back from war, and my brother Larry was reported missing, I have been corresponing with his ex-girlfriend Annie.

Slowly, I began to develop feelings for her. Finally, she is coming to our home.

I’m confused. I do not know if I should propose to Annie.

On the one hand, I do not want to upset my mother. She believes Larry is still alive and will return home one day. If I married his ex-girlfriend, it would be as if I declared him dead.

On the other hand, I gave in all my life to people in order to make them happy. I think that for once I should not give up something I want and I should fight for it till the end.

Usually, when I’m confused and do not know what to do, I consult my brother Larry, my mother and my father. Unfortunately, my brother was probably killed in the war. I also can not consult with my mother because she thinks Larry is still alive and therefore will not let me marry his girlfriend. I’ll go and consult my father.

My father is so annoying! He always runs away when he has to make a tough decision.

Now I have no one to consult with but myself.

Annie is coming soon, and we’re all going to eat dinner together.

Maybe I’ll try to propose to her at dinner. Who knows how this day can develop.
