Chris’s diary…

Dear diary,

I am so excited today, finally Annie is here. I haven’t seen her for such a long time. The last time I saw her, she was Larry’s girlfriend. I couldn’t believe my eyes today. She is so pretty. We have been sending letters to each other for about a year. I have written to her about my life and the neighborhood. However, I never wrote that I want to marry her. I didn’t mention her father’s crime. I never told her that the neighbors play cards with my dad but still think of her father as a murderer. I want to ask her to marry me today. I know that if Larry were alive right now I couldn’t marry her because she was his girl, but now there’s only me. I don’t know what mom is going say or do about it but I know that I will ask her hand today. When I imagine my future wife I can only see Ann.

I hope mother will understand my wish, although marrying Ann will pronounce Larry dead and this is very hard for her. I’m going to ask my dad to help me convince her that it’s time she accepted that fact that Larry is not coming back.  I want to move on and start living.
