He first addresses Ann.
Chris: While I was out, I did a lot of thinking about things, especially my life, my future and my relationships with my parents and with you Ann.

I feel like I betrayed my brother, I won’t be able to live with myself if I will get marry with you.

Of course Ann as well as Mother and Joe are stunned.

Chris: That’s right, now I think that family is the most important thing, and it comes before everything else.

I finally understand what my father has been talking about.

I am sorry father for not trying to understand what was behind all your actions, now I see the whole picture.

Keller: That’s ok son, I love you with all of my heart.

Chris offers to drive Ann to the train station in the morning but she refuses and says that she will go with the neighbor.

Ann rushes up to her room and the whole neighborhood could hear her sobbing.

Keller, Mother and Chris embrace each other as the curtain closes.
