Chris diary: The day Ann came to visit him

Dear diary,

Today Ann came to visit me. My mother got really nervous and sad, and my dad was apathetic.

I thought about telling my mom the truth many times, but I know she couldn’t handle the truth about my relationship with Ann. To be precise, the truth about Larry’s death. Because if I would tell her the real reason we are tougher, I will also need to tell her that Larry is not coming back.

When the Second World War began, I promised Larry that if anything happens to him, I will marry Ann and take care of her. Ann doesn’t   know the truth. I know that the right thing to do is to tell her. But after a while I was in love with her. I wish I could go back in time and tell Ann the truth from the start. But   now I know she will leave me, and I truly love her.
