THE STOLEN COCOLAT BARS

At noon , Danny was lying on the kibbutz lawn, absorbed in his thoughts. Suddenly he saw

for a moment, looked around and when they did not see anyone, Avi opened the door with a thief key and the two of them entered. Five minutes later Danny saw them coming out with a large package. Danny knew the wrapping of the Yossi and Avi, his classmates, approaching the kitchen storeroom. The two of them stopped chocolate packages that came to the kitchen every week.

A week ago the teacher asked in the classroom if anyone had seen who was breaking into the grocery store. The plague of theft angered everyone, because chocolate has not been distributed to children for two weeks.

Yossi thought, “Maybe I’ll tell the teacher?” But Yossi and Avi are his good friends and if he tells what he saw, “it will cost him dearly,” and yet something inside him gave him no rest. Desperate, Danny got up and walked toward his class
