What is a Refugee?:
A refugee is a person who has been forced to cross national boundaries and who cannot return home safely.
Unlike the concept of refugeea ( term used to define in general terms who has left their country of origin for persecution or war).
What characterises a refugee is that he or she has received this status and the protection thereof through political asylum under the law of the host state or international conventions.
2
Why the refugees are heading there?
This phenomenon has taken on significant dimensions since the Second World War.
The main causes of a refugee are: the war, the hunger, the epidemics, the lack of rights and liberty.

3
How many refugees there are in the world?
To answer this question we see a table describing how many refugees there are in different countries in millions:

4
Who are the victims of this situation?
In all refugee populations, about 50% of people are women and girls.
Far from their homes, their families, without the protection of their government, the women are particularly vulnerable. They face the difficulties of very long journeys into exile and often indifference to their situation.
Most women do not go as far as to seek asylum.
In addition, 21 million refugees worldwide are children and adolescents under the age of 18.
It is estimated that more than 2 million children have been killed in conflicts over the last decade.
Children living in 87 countries live with 60 million mines. About 10 000 of them are victims of mines every year.
More than 300 thousand young boys and girls currently serve as child soldiers in the world. Many are under 10 years of age.

5
What is the solution to make all this end ?
Three durable solutions can be pursued by refugees with the help of UNHCR: voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement in a third country.
The latter in cases where the person is unable to return home or remain in the host country.
Every year UNHCR helps refugees from all over the world to travel one of these solutions.

6
We hope that one day all this will end up: to live better, to live all together and help each other for a better world.
THE END.
