It was Tuesday, September 11, at 8:30 am.
Micheal Hingson was in his office on the
78th floor of the north Twin Tower.
Roselle, his guide dog, was sleeping under his desk.
Micheal had a guide dog because he was blind.

At 8:45, there was a very loud noise and the building shook.
Micheal didn’t know what happened, but Roselle jumped up and stood next to him.
She wasn’t scared and she knew what to do.
Micheal trusted her. Micheal followed Roselle out of the office and down the stairs.
Soon, it got very hot and there was a lot of smoke.
The building was on fire!!!

Micheal heard people scream for help. Then a few people bumped into him.
“Where are they going?” he asked himself.
They were rescue workers- firefighters and policemen-going up the stairs to help people.
He didn’t want them to stop for him.

“Do you need help? Are you OK?” one of the rescue workers asked Micheal.
Micheal answered that he was fine. he was’nt worried about himself.
“Go get them,” he said.
“Do everything you can.”

It took Micheal and Roselle an hour to get down the 78th floor because there was so much smoke and because there were so many people.
Micheal knew that they were almost safe, but Roselle was very thirsty.
He stopped to let the dog drink.
When they came out of the building, Micheal herd people screaming and running away from the Twin Towers, because it was dangerous there.

Micheal and Roselle ran to a safe place.
Then, at 10:08, the north Twin Tower collapsed.
Twenty minutes later, the south Twin Tower was also gone.
Roselle saved Micheal’s life.
