Introduction
CIS; where do I begin……… This is one of he of the greatest schools I have ever been in and I will always remember the school CIS. I have been this school since reception and now I am in Year 6! Time sure does fly. Thank God I still remained as a prefect to the end of year 6 and I am very happy that I even qualified as as a prefect and I will always love and remember this school.
All about me
My name is Araoluwa kola-daisi and I am 11 years old. I was born in London, England, however I am from Lagos, Nigeria. I school in CIS and I am chubby. I was born on June 21st 2007.
My time in year 6
Year 6 has been a crazy roller coaster from the beginning to end. I have gone to swimming competitions as well as fun school trips. However, I will really want to thank Mrs Dosunmu because she has really taught me that you can do anything as long as you are determined. Although it was tough I got through everything and I put my mind to it. Also,at I have accomplished being a prefect and representing my school in various iconic competitions. Another moment that stood out was when I was chosen for the spelling bee. I really liked this as I could make m house proud and improve my spelling skills.
My time in CIS
I remember the first time I walked through the doors of CIS; it was in reception. My heart was burning with fear as I was about 4 years old. Only to know that I will love the school in the future. The first person I saw a was a very nice girl however she has gone from this school; her name was Amara and she showed me around. I also met a teacher called Mrs Gibiri who really made me love this school. The teachers that also really influenced me was Mrs Ajimuda who made me become the person I am today.
Sports
CIS has really made me like sports especially swimming and football. I have developed this sports in this school because I have gone to big international competitions like the COBIS primary games and the world primary school games in Dubai which also makes me socialise with people around the world. I also go to local lagos competitions which I all represent my school CIS. Sports has always been a big influence on me and it will always continue with me.
Academics
In CIS, academics has played a huge role in my life and I always put my best foot forward and my best effort. I always try to do well even though I was in the 2nd highest numeracy group throughout year 6 although I was thankfully in the highest literacy group. Also, we learn topic which consists on stuff like geography and science where we learn things like chemistry and physics. I do not know if this is considered a subject but we do TLIM which stands for the leader in me and teaches you the 7 habits of an effective leader and the booklet we answer and use goes really deep in it. In numeracy we learn about things like ratios and in literacy we analyze writing and also do role plays.
Choir competition
This competition was very iconic as this was willow’s house first ever win in the history of CIS and my last ever since I am leaving the school. The aim of this challenge is to find out the house that can sing the best. We do it every year annually in December and sing a Christmas song as it is the time of Christmas. So, the defending champions of the competition where acacia which is the yellow house however they din’t seem to retain it. As the competition went on wonderful music was sangs to people’s ears from all the houses but eventually the green house (willow) came on top; while the 2nd was jacaranda (blue house); 3rd Acacia (yellow house); and 4th sycamore (my house and the red) came last.
African studies exposition
The African studies exposition was an event in which all of us had a country picked for us and each class had to separate teams. So, after each group got their teams we had abut 6 weeks to talk about the countries styles and cultures as well as their tradition. My group chose Zambia and we were very happy to tell an audience about Zambia. As days and weeks went by I and my group were ready and it was time. At the end of the contest I and my team came 4th; however, I learnt that it does not matter what position you come and everybody is a champion which I really liked.
Nike Art Gallery
This was a field trip in which we went to nike art gallery; a place which produces artwork and beautiful paintings. The people there are very skilled and definitely have a love for art as all of their drawings tell a story. One of them was a fat girl doing exercise which is trying to tell you that no matter your size you can do anything.
Literacy, Numeracy and Science week
First, we had literacy and numeracy week which held in march and a lot of fun events and activities happened. In literacy week; iconic authors and writers as well as playwrights came to talk about what writing means to them and much more. Examples of people that came were: Wole Soyinka, Alan Durant and Jenim Debie. Also, we did the annual spelling bee for of course the literacy week. In the other hand, there was the numeracy week where we did fun activities like the annual math competition, pie recitation and pie eating competition as well as pie the teacher.(However it was just whip cream on a plastic plate) Then, there was science week which we did a science competition and the healthy eating sandwich competition with other fun activities. This held in April.
KS2 Production
The KS2 production was phenomenal as we presented an abbreviated version pf the wonderful musical my fair lady in a play. I played the flower man which is a gentleman that sells flowers. I have a line that insults the main character Eliza because of how annoying she is. The musical is about Eliza doolittle a common flower-girl suddenly meets a phonetic professor Henry Higgins that agrees to teach her to speak better English. Eventually she speaks beautifully and her and Henry became good friends at the end. When we finally presented the play to the parents, it was amazing.
Our class Assembly
This is something that starts from second term in which each class in KS2 has to present something they have learnt in class in form of anything they like. Our class chose to talk about sleep. We decided just do a normal presentation which everyone loved and my role was to go to one of the teachers and put the microphone to them so that they can answer a question my fellow classmate asked. All of us put our absolute hundred percent to this and did not let anything stop us and together we did very well.
Diversity Day
Diversity day was one of my most favorite events because you really get to embrace yourself and show how diverse you are. Every diversity day each year has a country to represent and this time we did Ghana and we danced and said some facts about Ghana as well as saying Ghana’s pledge. On the day, we also got special dances from a group of people which was very entertaining and fun.

Conclusion
In contrast year 6 has been a great journey; also CIS. However I am going to senior school which requires more responsibility and hard work. So, I really need to focus more and talk less. CIS is a school that made me grow physically and mentally and has made me become the person I am today. I have had the most fun in CIS because the teachers are really understanding and helped me progress in my life. Although, it is time to go to a new chapter; I am going to England boarding school which will make me become a way better person. See you next time
