The start of a plants life cycle begins with a seed. Seeds come in many different sizes, colors, and shapes.

When a seed is planted in the soil this starts the beginning of the life cycle of a plant.

When the seed senses that it has the right temperature, light, and water it will begin to sprout roots.

Until the seed can reach the top of the soil to sprout leaves, the seed relies on the embryo to produce the energy it needs to survive. Once the plant reaches the top of the soil, the plant sprouts or grows. The plant will then use the sun to make its own food.

As the adult plant grows, it will produce seeds that will be released to grow new plants. When the plant reaches the end of it’s life cycle, the plant will die. In the meantime, the adult plant has left behind hundreds of seeds to be planted and grown.
