Darrell Mercer is a teenager who lived with his mother in Philadelphia city. Since his childhood he suffered constantly of bullying by his partners at Jr.high school because of his physical appearance (short and tiny), but he had a friend, Malik Stone, who protected him from the constant abuse in school. Darrell’s father died, and his mother had to take care of their economic situation at home. Darrell’s uncle offered his mother a new job and a home in California, where their lives changed.


Living in California , life to Darrell was very difficult; moreover, he had to started a new challenge: to be a freshman in Blufford High School, Where he suffered of constantly mental and physical abuse by partners. While he was attending high school, some partners abused him physically and mentally. For that reason he suffered of depression. Mr. Mitchell, a teacher of high school, noticed about the situation and tried to helped him and offered Darrell a book that could help him with the situation that he was having.

After reading the book, Darrell’s life changed, he had to make important decisions to improve his self-steem after he suffered constant humiliations by Tyran and Tyran’s friends. Thanks to his mother’s support, he belonged to Wrestler’s team at high school, where with coach Lewi’s help, he learned to work his body and mind. Thus, Darrell faced all his fears to be able to beat bulling.

Uncle Jason: Darrell’s uncle, who offered them moved to California to have a better life.

“Boy, if you mess with me , you won’t have teeth left to eat anything”. This quote shows the verbal abuse that Darrell was a victim of.
”I’m still getting used to it here. I’ts a lot different from Philly”.
This quote reflects the change, and how he has to adapt to his new life.
Due to the fact that we are living in an era where children are suffering of “The Bully” in different ages and genders, I recommend widely this book to take consciousness about what ”The Bully” means and his consequences.
