16. After their trip,  they decided to help people, to be honest and not to fight.

1.

One beautiful day, six friends were playing in the pretty garden.

They were friends from Poland, Spain and Italy spending time together during the visit of Erasmus+ project in Poland. It was beautiful May end the kids met for the first time but felt like real friends meeting online before and doing a lot of activities together. “What are we going to play” – asked Zuza?

They decided to play hide and seek.

When they were playing they found a chest with a map when to find a time machine.The next day they started to look for this machine. At first it was very difficult, but then they solved the clues easily and after two hours they found it in a big ceve near Iłowo-Osada.

They went out of the machine. They went to the castle where they found a girl who was crying. She was beauiful and young. They came up to her and asked “Hello why are you crying?”. She explained ‘’I fell in love with a prince but my dad doesn’t let us for this love’’.  They felt really sorry for her because she seemed to be so unhappy.

“Who is your dad asked Giulia” His name is Działd and he is the ruler of the land”. “What happened?” asked Mario. “My beloved Jurgen sent his envoys to ask my hand, but neither the father, nor the royal council, nor the townspeople wanted to give up their princess, the beloved treasure and the only heir who would rule the country after her father”. “That is said” said Sofia. “What are you going to do?”. The princess replied: “We won’t give up because we can live only together. We have been meeting secretly from my father in the underground porch leading outside the castle. We have decided to go to his native country in the far north. There is the underground porch from the stronghold of Działdowo leading outside the castle near Księżydwór village. We are going to escape that way”.

Stas said – “I can remember there is a hill surrounded by a circle of field stones, a place of pagan worship in ancient times. From the north, a depression was visible: this is where the passage to the Działdowo stronghold led. The people said it is a place where a princes and her lover are buried. The locals say that when they were leaving the underground porch from the stronghold of Działdowo, the womb of the earth swayed with a threatening roar, the ceiling collapsed and absorbed the young couple.

It was the land of Działdowo that did not allow the foreign invaders to snatch their most precious treasure, their princess heiress.” “Oh that’s terrible” said Viki. “Plase don’t take the risk of escape” “And listen to your father he knows what is better for you. You have to trust him” – Mario added. “You belong to this land” – said Zuza.

“I was so selfish now I understand. I am going to stay with my people and be a good ruler. I promise”. “We have to go now. Our time machine has broken and we have to find the way home” said Giulia. “Take care” said Sofia. “Tank you for your help and goodluck” – the princess waved to her new friends.

They got the machine and tried to come back but the screen showed “ITALY”.

The children arrived in Sardinia on a sunny May day. They flew over the coast of the island with the time machine and, having sighted the castle of Quirra, decided to land in Murtas. Murtas is a wonderful and unspoiled beach located in the territory of Villaputzu, a charming town in Sarrabus. Excited at the idea of meeting the Countess Violante Carroz, they start to cross the path that separated them from the castle … not easy to get there!! The manor had been built on the top of a mountain, and to reach it they had to pass through dense forests of holm oaks, cork oaks, junipers, olive trees and then to reach the top and remain breathless in front of a dream panorama, with a splendid view on the coast and in the valleys of the interior.

They entered the castle garden and, in the distance, saw a girl with long black braids. She looks sad, wearing a blue tunic. She wore a precious silver heart – shaped pendant around her neck. The princess, curious, approached the guys and asked them what had pushed them up there.  “We are here to know everything about you, why you are sad and why people call you” the bloodthirsty “. The princess brightened, she was really happy to be able to tell her story.” My name is Violante Carroz, and I am the countess of the castle from Quirra, I came from Spain when I was 13 years old to succeed my deceased father. I was very happy to be here, but soon I had to face the discontent of the local people, who did not want to be governed by a woman. Their protests grew so much that I had to use an iron fist and have several people killed. This is why they call me “The Bloodthirsty”, but I never wanted to do it.

– And who gave you this pendant around your neck? –

– This was given to me by a man whom I loved so much, but whom I could not marry because the bishop of Quirra, Giovanni Castangia, objected. Blinded by anger, I had him captured and hanged. Her body remained hanging on the walls of the castle of San Michele, in Cagliari, for weeks, as a warning to the population. “The guys felt a shiver of fear in looking at that woman so cruel, but she reassured them:” Do not be afraid , I regretted what happened, and remorse will accompany me until the end of my days.

I understand that anger is a bad adviser, it is important to learn to control it because otherwise you risk committing irreparable actions. In a few days I will leave for Cagliari and shut myself up in the convent of San Francesco di Stampace to seek God’s forgiveness. How long will you stay here? “

– Not for long, we will soon be leaving to go to Spain! “

-Guys, no matter how far you can go, I will always take you in the heart, thanks for listening to my story without judging. I feel a little relieved! And so that you will remember me I will give you a gift: in the dungeons of the castle there is a precious gold frame hidden, which no one has managed to find … Take it in your time and tell everyone that behind a bloody woman, there is a hidden Violante Carroz with a big and repentant heart .. “She handed them the chassis.

The guys, very grateful and happy to have learned many things from the countess, said goodbye to the countess and returned to the spacecraft, ready to leave for a new trip to Spain… But after having plunged into the crystalline waters of Murtas !!

The children were so excited with all the things they saw and learned in Italy and Poland that they wanted to know more, so they decided to go to Spain.

They wanted to know about the mystery of the Princess of Eboli and her sad story.  They wanted to know what happened to her in the eye.  Poor princess!

Nobody knew the children’s secret…their time machine!  So to Spain they went.

The children arrived in Pastrana on a sunny Sunday. Pastrana is a municipality in Guadalajara, a very beautiful city. It has museums, squares, a convent, palaces and there is also a castle, where the princess of Eboli lived. The children entered the palace gardens and courtyards and there she was … looking out the window …

When they first saw her, they screamed because she was like a ghost (very pale and thin), but then, they recognized her because of the patch!

“She is more beautiful in person,” they thought.  The princess was very surprised because two strange children ran towards her.  They had a mission: to know everything about the sad princess.  Why was she so sad? Why did she wear a patch on her eye?

The children said, “Good morning, young Lady.  We asked the guards to see you because we want to know your story.  Can you be so kind as to talk to us?” She was very nice that she asked the children to follow her to one of the beautiful gardens of the castle.  There were many colorful flowers, pine trees, and also ducks in a small pond.  All the children sat around her. They couldn’t believe they were talking to a princess!  They were so excited!

Building a time machine was the best invention ever!

The children decided to explore the town and find more about the sad princess.  There was a market and many settlers buying vegetables and fruits and clothes and spices.  They asked some of the sellers and they all told the different stories they heard about the princess.  An old man said, “I have known the princess since she was little.  She was once playing like a knight with a real sword she found in the castle.  A friend distracted her and the tip of the sword hit her eye.  She cried and cried but nobody could do anything.  Poor princess lost her eye and had to cover it for the rest of her life,” the man said.  

A woman who was selling oranges and apples said she also knew two different stories, so they waited until she finished her job for the day.  They sat down with the woman and she said, “The legend says that when the princess was a child, she went out to her garden, approached a carnivorous plant and the plant ate her right eye.”

The kind man agreed to tell them what he knew. “One day” he said, “the princess was playing fencing in the street like she did almost every afternoon with her friends, but they were playing with sticks not with real swords.  There was a very strong boy playing too, and he hit the princess with the stick.  Bad luck, he hit her in the eye and she lost it.”

It was getting late and the children had to go back to the time machine before school finished. We They ? ran fast, but… on our way, we met the princess again!  We stopped to tell her what people in town were saying.  She smiled and said, “People say so things.  Some say I fell off a horse, some say I had a serious disease, some say I was playing with a slingshot and a pebble bounced back and hit me in the eye. 

The truth is that the children learned that they always have to be very careful when they play, help each other, and never fight.
