               GADULKA

The gadulka is a traditional bowed string instrument. Its name comes from a root meaning “to make noise, hum or buzz”. The gadulka is an integral part of Bulgarian traditional instrumental ensembles, commonly played in the context of dance music. The gadulka commonly has three (occasionally four or five Mincho Minchev) main strings with up to sixteen sympathetic resonating strings underneath introduced by the legendary Mincho Nedyalkov. Only the main melodic strings are touched by the player’s fingers and the strings are never pressed all the way down to touch the neck. The gadulka is held vertically, with the bow held perpendicular in an under-hand hold. There is a smaller variant of the instrument in the Dobrudja region with no sympathetic strings at all. The body and neck of the instrument are carved out of one piece of wood, the body forming a bowl or gourd like a lute.

                                  CASTANETS

Castanets come from Phenicia. They are percussion instruments. The castanets are played by punching. Castanets are made of wood. Castanets are widespread in many countries around the world: Portugal, Italy, Argentina, but only in Spain are considered cultural and national wealth as an indispensable attribute of Spanish dance. Мany contractors in Spain own castanets flawlessly. Castanets in Spanish Andalusia are also called palillo, which in Spanish means chopsticks. Some facts: -There is a version that castanets in Spain from the New World were brought by Christopher Columbus. -For about three hundred years the Spanish gypsies, and with them the flamenco with castanets, were in exile. And it wasn’t until the 18th century that flamenco “became free”. -Castanets have been playing in cinema since the 1930s in the films “The Daughter of Juan Simon”, “Maria de la O”, “Fandango Spell”, where the leading role is played by the magnificent Spanish flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya.

The didgeridoo is played with continuously vibrating lips to produse the drone while ising a
special breathing technique.By use of this technique, a skilled player can replanish the
air in their lungs, and with practice can sustain a note for as long as desired.Traditional
didgeridoo are usually made from hardwoods.Once a suitably tree is found, it is cut down and
cleaned out, the bark is taken off, the ends trimmed, and the exterior is shaped. This results in
a finished instrument. There are numerous names for the instrument among the Aboriginal peoples of
of northern Australia, none if which clasely resemble the word “didgeridoo”.
A didgeridoo is usually cylindrical or conica;, and can measure anywhere from 1 to 3 m. Yidaki is

                   KOTO

The koto  is a Japanese stringed musical instrument derived from the Chinese zheng, and similar to the Mongolian yatga, the Korean gayageum, the Vietnamese đàn tranh, and the Sundanese kacapi. The koto is the national instrument of Japan. Koto are about 180 centimetres (71 in) length, and made from kiri wood (Paulownia tomentosa). They have 13 strings that are usually strung over 13 movable bridges along the width of the instrument. There is also a 17-string variant. Players can adjust the string pitches by moving the white bridges before playing. To play the instrument, the strings are plucked using three finger picks (thumb, index finger, and middle finger). The ancestor of the koto was the Chinese guzheng. It was first introduced to Japan from China in the 7th and 8th century. The first known version had five strings, which eventually increased to seven strings. (It had twelve strings when it was introduced to Japan in the early Nara Period (710–784) and increased to thirteen strings). The Japanese koto belongs to the Asian zither family that also comprises the Chinese zheng (ancestral to the other zithers in the family), the Korean gayageum, and the Vietnamese dan tranh. This variety of instrument came in two basic forms, a zither that had bridges and zithers without bridges.
