During The War

even though Sendler was not jewish, when she heard about everything that happened at ghetto Varsha, she decided she had to do something. She got permision to go into the ghetto whenever she wanted, to make sure diseases spread outside of the ghetto. Little did the Nazis know, she did much more than that.

Sandler would often sneak medicine into the ghetto, then she convinced parents to let her take their children and help them get a better life. she would then proceed to change the childrens names and find them new homes or places at an orphnage. She wrote everything about the kids and hid the information in jars which she hid next to a tree.

When the war was over, she tried to reunite the kids she saved with their families.

After the war, she worked in the Polish Ministry of Health.

In 1965, Yad Vashem awarded her the title of Righteous Among the Nations and in 1991 she received Israeli citizenship.
