Snow, rain, sun, oh my! 

So many different seasons, passing us by.

With every season comes a different type of day!

Lets look at all four, what do you say? 

First lets look at winter! The coldest of them all, a time where the snow piles tall!

Lets get out all of our hats, mittens and coats, we must stay warm and avoid those sore throats!

During this season it can rain, snow or sleet, but one thing you will not feel is that good ole’ summer heat! 

After winter comes to a rest, another season is ought to come next!

Spring is here, goodbye snow, you can disappear!

No more darkness, no more gloom, the flowers are ready to bloom. 

But first we must have rain, because as they say, April showers bring may flowers!

Summer has finally made it!

Time for some ice cream, maybe even a banana split!

This season is the warmest of them all, its the best time to catch some fresh air and play some ball.

Now we can go to the beach!

It is also a perfect time to enjoy some freshly grown fruit, maybe a peach! 

Here comes fall, its time for the leaves to break from the trees that stand short and tall. 

Each leaf, the red, green, yellow and brown,

one by one, they cover the ground.

The days are getting shorter and the lights are getting longer.

A brisk, chilly breeze is coming in, preparing for the winter to begin.

So here we are again, its time for winter to begin

But no need to say goodbye to Spring, Summer or Fall, they will be back, just how they’ve always been!

And that’s how the seasons work!

One arrives after the next, each with their individual quirks!

Discussion Questions:

1. What is something you can do in the summer? Why is this possible?

2. What is something you have always wanted to do during the fall time?

3. What is something you might find difficult doing during the winter? Why wouldn’t you be able to?

4. Share what your favorite season is and explain why.

Follow up activity:

Have each student create a visual representation of whichever season they prefer. They may use various art mediums for their creation. Each student may present their artwork, explain what they have created and why they chose their season.
