Eric Carle, is an author of children’s books. He was born on June 25th, 1929 in Syracuse, New York. He is most known for his story “The Very Hungary Caterpillar”. This book has been translated into more than 60 different languages! Some other books Eric Carle has written are Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? The Grouchy Ladybug, The Tiny Seed, The Very Quiet Cricket, and Do You Want To Be My Friend?


This story follows a caterpillar throughout it’s life. We first see this caterpillar come out of an egg. Then we see him eating all the foods that he encounters. We count all the way up to day 5. Once he is nice and full he begins to make a cocoon. By the end of the book he is a beautiful butterfly!

This story is about the narrator of the story talking to all of the animals and asking what they see! The first animal we see is the brown bear. The next animal we see is a red bird. After that we see a yellow duck. Next we see the blue horse. After the horse we see a green frog. Next we see a purple cat. The next animal we see is a white dog. After that we see a black sheep. Following the sheep we see a gold fish. Then the goldfish sees a teacher. And the final thing the teacher sees is the children!

This story is about a ladybug who just does not want to share. The ladybug wants to fight with all of the other animals that he encounters. The animals are all small but gradually get bigger until he meets the whale. The whale hits the ladybug with his tail and sends him all the way back to where he started!

This story is about a seed that is carried away from its home by the wind. The seed goes all over the world. We watch as the seed gets picked up by animals, eaten by birds, falling into the ocean or burned by the sun!

This story is about a little cricket who tries over and over again to make his wings chirp just like every other insect that makes their special sound when they pass by. Each page has a different insect that makes a noise!

This story is about a little mouse who just wants to find a friend. He encounters the tail of many different animals. He first comes across a mean horse who doesn’t want to be his friend. He goes through many different animals until he finds the right friend.
