The Knight’s Tale

A long time ago, there were two cousins: Palamon and Arcite from Thebes. One day, when the Duke of Athens Theseus attacked Thebes, the two young knights were sent to fight.

When the battle ended , they were made prisoners because they were the only survivors. Every day, from the window of the prison, they kept looking at this beautiful young lady called Emily. They both fell in love with her and fought for her love.

After some time, the first to be liberated was Arcite while Palamon had to stay in prison other seven years. When finally Palamon escaped from there, the two fought again for Emily.

But Theseus saw everything and decided to make them stop with a promise: the winner, with the help of 100 soldiers, would have married the lovely Emily.

After all, they accepted and they started the battle: Palamon in the name of Venus and Arcite in the name of Mars. The fighting lasted one day and finally Arcite won.

But Venus couldn’t stand this, so she killed the winner with an earth tremor. Before dying Arcite told Emily to marry his cousin.

At the end, they got married and lived all the rest of their lives in great happiness.
