1)FACEBOOK IS BANNED!
Imagine a world without Facebook? In 2009, China did exactly that. They banned it from the country and created their own social media platforms. One in particular that has surpassed more users than Facebook is Weibo. Considered the Twitter of China, the social network is highly censored and controlled by the government.

2)A ONE-CHILD POLICY EXISTS!
The one-child policy was introduced in 1980, originally designed to be a one-generation policy which has slowly been loosened by the government over the years given circumstance changes and provinces. In 2007, 36% of China’s population was subject to this policy, with only 53% allowed to have the second child if it was a girl.

3)’AOYUN’ IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR NAMES IN CHINA AND IT MEANS OLYMPICS
There was a surge in naming your baby Aoyun as a result of the Olympic games with over 4000 children registered under this name. AND COUNTING!

4)THERE ARE MORE THAN 200 PROTESTS A DAY!
The reason for this? The overworked and underpaid population of china who are just fighting for their rights!

5)BY 2025, CHINA MAY HAVE TEN NEW YORK SIZED CITIES
With their fast paced economy and population growth, China is expected to have over ten New York sized cities built by 2025.

6)45 BILLION CHOPSTICKS ARE USED EVERY DAY!
For food purposes only.

7)EVERYBODY IS REQUIRED TO WATCH THE SAME CHANNEL AT 7PM.
Want to sit back, relax and watch some movies? NO, YOU CAN’T! In China, it’s required that EVERY TV channel broadcast a live 30-minute long news program that’s run by the China Central television.

8) CHILDREN DO NOT WEAR DIAPER!
This is really weird! Diapers are not popular in China. Most children wear special pants with big hole bottoms. When they feel they need to make a poo or pee, they just squat and do it wherever they want.

9) CHINA IS THE OWNER OF ALL THE PANDA’S IN THE WORLD
China is the owner of all pandas. Literally, all of them! Every single panda that lives on this world belongs to China.
If you see a panda in other countries, it means it is lent from PRC (People’s Republic of China). What’s interesting is that when a baby panda is born, it is sent to China (always by FedEx) to help expand the gene pool.

10) THE COUNTERFEIT PROBLEM IS VERY VERY REAL
With everything these days labelled ‘Made in China’, we’re not surprised how many counterfeit products come from China which includes toys, cars, money, and knock-off brands. And we don’t just mean pirated DVDs and music, there’s the other weird stuff like fake apple stores, fake restaurants and even a fake Disneyland!
